The Capital Center for Law & Policy at McGeorge School of Law offers a unique blend of courses and experiential opportunities to prepare you for a career focused on shaping public policy in government. Our location in California's capital city, just a few short miles from the State Capitol and government buildings, provides an unparalleled opportunity to impact critical government and public policy issues while completing your JD (pdf).
McGeorge's Capital Lawyering Concentration gives you access to faculty and alumni who are among the most respected in the capital arena. Capital Lawyering coursework and experiences prepare you to influence and impact public policy and government law from day one in your career.
Our one-of-a-kind Legislative and Public Policy Clinic gives you the opportunity to shape California law while still in school. Students in the Legislative and Public Policy Clinic work with clients to draft legislation and lobby it through the California Legislature. Clinic students have successfully expanded protections for survivors of domestic violence, banned powdered alcohol, changed eyewitness testimony laws, and enacted harsher penalties for distributing revenge porn.

Capital Center scholarships are available to highly qualified JD degree applicants who want to complete the Capital Lawyering Concentration. Interested applicants should contact the McGeorge Admissions Office by email or by calling 916.739.7105.
The Capital Center also recognizes and honors McGeorge students who serve the community through volunteering or pro bono legal work.
